Haiti: Political Leaders Honor Former President Jovenel Moïse During Memorial Mass
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Members of the political party Les Engagés pour le Développement (EDE), led by former Prime Minister Claude Joseph, joined several political figures on Monday for a memorial mass honoring the late President Jovenel Moïse, whose assassination continues to shape Haiti’s political landscape.
The religious ceremony was organized as part of an effort to commemorate the former head of state and encourage public reflection on one of the most significant events in the country’s recent history. Political leaders, supporters, and invited guests gathered to pay tribute to Moïse and remember his years in office.
Speaking during the event, Claude Joseph, President of EDE’s Strategic Council, said the memorial service was intended to preserve the memory of former President Jovenel Moïse and to remind Haitians of the circumstances surrounding his assassination. He noted that similar commemorative ceremonies are expected to be held in several cities across the country as part of a broader effort to honor the late president’s legacy.

Former Prime Minister Evans Paul, leader of the KID political party, also addressed attendees during the ceremony. Paul further stated that President Moïse had faced significant political challenges before his death and suggested that his administration had already experienced considerable political isolation.
